2022 Acura Mdx Type S Specs – I spent this week with the completely redesigned 2022 Acura MDX three-row SUV. For 2022, the MDX is bigger, sleeker and offers more interior space than the previous version of Acura’s flagship SUV. My test vehicle is the Type S, a legendary Acura name known for performance for over 20 years. This is the first time Acura has offered the Type S in an SUV. It also has the Advance package, making it the top MDX offered for 2022. There are no options on my test vehicle, everything I’m talking about is standard. Exterior I really like the exterior of the MDX. The 21-inch wheels look great, the front has large air vents in the corners and a large square grille at the rear, a rear spoiler and very attractive quad exhausts. The Lunar Silver paint is one of the best paint jobs I’ve ever seen from an automaker. Powertrain Under the sculpted hood is a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 horsepower and a whopping 354 pound-feet of torque. This 4,700-pound SUV handles very well. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. It also has Acura’s amazing SH-AVD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive), which sends 70% of the power to the rear wheels when needed. Interior The interior of the MDKS is the most impressive. The seats, dash and console are heavily stitched, and the dash and door panels have a nice combination of wood and gloss black. The seats are bolstered but not overly so, they are heated, cooled and have the best massage function I have ever experienced. The instrument panel is configurable via the tilt power steering and is easy to read. Looking through the windshield, you’ll see a large, easy-to-read head-up display with character recognition. The central display has MDX graphics and even shows you if the turn signals or brake lights are being used. Gone is the old dual screen setup which was quite outdated. The replacement is a single 12.5-inch screen that sits high in the center of the dashboard. It’s not a touchscreen, but I wish it was. Instead, everything on the screen is controlled from the touchpad located on the center console. We have a problem with MDX here. I found the trackpad a little annoying, but it got easier as the week went on. For me the answer is to do what Lexus did and give people the option to touch the screen OR use the trackpad. I’m embarrassed to admit that I had to watch a YouTube video to figure out how to operate the infotainment system. The screen is easy to read and very colorful. From there you control the 25-speaker ELS audio system, 360-degree camera system, navigation, SiriusXM, Alexa, Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s a split-screen design and you can choose what you want to see, including the navigation system or the audio you’re listening to. Below the screen are climate control, air conditioning and massaging seats and a large round dial for driving modes. You can choose between snow, comfort, normal, sport and sport plus. You can also individually configure elements of the driving mode to your liking. There are very significant differences in performance between the driving modes, especially sport plus. The center console itself has gear buttons, a couple of cup holders, a button to hold the brake, another to deactivate the start/stop system, and a sort of pop-up box with two USB ports, nice. . You’ll also find a boring trackpad here. Between the front seats there is a large armrest and storage space. A huge mobile phone charger is located under the very comfortable palm rest. The seats in the second row are spacious and can be moved forward and backward and reclined. Rear passengers get adjustable climate control, heated but not cooled seats, a 110-volt outlet and USB ports. A great feature is the large folding console in the second row of seats, which can easily be removed completely to create captain’s chairs, or you can leave it in and have a bench. Utility The seats in the third row are limited, mostly for children, but can fit two adults in an emergency. The cargo area is quite large and has a lower floor for additional storage which is also very large. The 3rd row seats fold down and lie completely flat. However, the third-row seats don’t power fold, but the tailgate is electric and can be operated from the dashboard, key fob, hands-free, or a button on the tailgate itself. Standard features The Type MDX S is fully equipped with a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and remote start, sports pedals, front and rear parking sensors, air suspension, LED headlights and taillights, 16-way power front seats and ambient lighting. cabin. Safety On the safety side, you get adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning with lane assist, lane keep assist, lane departure mitigation and automatic high beam assist. Ride and Ride The MDX S-type drives really well, has a great exhaust, fantastic acceleration and is super quiet inside. When not in sport plus mode, the driving characteristics are very pleasant. Total MSRP with every imaginable option is $72,050, which is an exceptional value by today’s standards. Verdict So, is the trackpad enough to keep you away from this cool SUV? Not now. There’s still a lot to like, with more time the trackpad would become more intuitive I’m sure. 3-row SUV buyers, make sure this is on your shopping list.
