The automaker gave the third-generation Acura RTX a complete redesign and a new platform for the 2019 model year. Many of the RDX’s updates are hidden under its redesigned sheet metal, designed to provide passengers with a more comfortable cabin. For example, Acura lowered the engine’s cold idle from 1,000 rpm to 950, while adding a new front fascia and upgrading its active audio control system for a more premium interior experience. Acura adopted a new low torque rod to dampen engine vibration on two-wheel drive models.
Models with the Technology Pack get new, thicker carpets, new soundproofing for the front doors, acoustic glass and more. Acura claims the RDX has the quietest cabin ever in a Pack Forward model. Additional soundproofing is added to the ceiling, dash, engine tunnel and under the hood. AP models get rear door insulators and acoustic glass, while rear hatchbacks and rear hatches get more noise-deadening materials.
RTX 2022 gets more standard technology than the outgoing model, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless integration. Models with the Technology Package offer wireless charging and Acura’s iconic Drive Ambient Lighting system, which allows owners to choose from 27 different ambient color combinations. Top-of-the-line Forward Package models include power-folding side mirrors, a 12-volt outlet in the cargo area and remote engine start with improved functionality.

The A-Spec 2022 RTX, now available with the Tech Package or the Advanced Package, comes with a number of unique looks such as a metallic grille and foglamps, a gloss black grill surround and more. The rear gets gloss black tail lights and a more aggressive fascia. A-spec models with the Advance package get unique 20-inch 15-spoke wheels finished in Shark Grey.
Inside, Acura offers the A-spec with the Advance package with orchid leather as an exclusive option. While there are no other significant interior changes to the regular RDX, a flat-bottom steering wheel is standard.
Acura will offer a limited-production manual PMC RDX Edition early in the 2022 model year. The company plans to produce just 200 examples, and will offer a special crossover entirely in Long Beach Blue Pearl paint. The Acura gets a matching Orchid interior with blue contrast stitching. Notable styling features include a body-coloured grille that complements the gloss black diamond pentagon grille. Gloss-black accents adorn the door handles, roof, exterior mirrors and some badges, while the Advance package completes its feature set. This will be Acura’s most exclusive PCM model.

The RDX’s mid-cycle update drops the model’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It produces the same 276 hp (205 kW) while offering the same fuel economy ratings for its various trims. The RDX’s Integrated Dynamic System has also been improved, allowing it to better tailor the driving experience. Pack Forward models also get an upgraded adaptive damper system.
The 2022 model also gets new wheel styles and three new exterior colors (Liquid Carbon Metallic, Phantom Violet Pearl and Long Beach Blue Pearl). Pricing has yet to be determined, but the 2021 RDX starts at $38,400.
