But today I want to share the water… before and after is so nasty, fun! I’m very proud of how it turned out and we couldn’t have done it without the MVP of this project… BEHR® paint (and stain).
So let’s start at the beginning….when we bought the house, the front porch was eye catching. It has a check on the porch and a protruding part that looks like a very aggressive mustache.

Soon I will be sharing a detailed tutorial on how we paint the patio…with instructions, but for now I just want to share the before and after. Honestly, I have the patience of a two-year-old in a candy store, and I can’t wait to show you all this beauty for the first time 🙂
The best part about this project is that the clear stain we used allows the natural beauty of the wood to show through… We want to make it clear that we are using almost the same language as the historic original. We used BEHR PREMIUM® clear waterproofing sealant in Drift Gray ST-137. I also like that the Drift Gray color we chose is subtle and reflects the color of the original doors.
The whole atmosphere of the entrance is very patriotic (yes, the flag helps) and lively. It’s like the American Dream on a drive-thru. The color of the door and the ceiling is fresh and clean, perfectly combined with the smooth white and soft color of the floor tiles. I could go with something bold and dark, but the entryway gets a lot of sunlight and we don’t want it to be too hot. It’s light enough that I think it goes with all the holiday decorations and hides dirt.
