That’s because our virtual exterior design services take into account natural light, the orientation of your home, the surface you’re painting on, and more. In addition, in the renderings we use only those paint colors that we would use in real life. Remember, it’s just as easy to paint your house right as it is to paint it wrong!

Whites, grays and grays all have nuances that are important when choosing a paint color for your home environment. These tones can be blue, green, or purple (or any combination thereof). Classic gray has a passive purple tone. But don’t let that scare you. In most environments, where most paints and materials are colored, the purple tone is invisible (and less noticeable than other similar whites, such as Sherwin Williams’ Eider White).

We didn’t mince words when we said that classic gray is universal. It works in many mediums: stucco, brick, siding and James Hardie siding. We’ve used it in modern, contemporary, traditional, transitional and farmhouse projects, as well as commercial exterior designs.

What does LRV mean? LRV means the light reflectance value of paint colors on a scale from 0 (pure black) to 100 (pure white). Essentially, colors with an LRV rating of 0 will be darker and numbers closer to 100 will be lighter.

Classic gray paint has a light reflectance coefficient, or LRV, of 74. This means it looks more like white than true gray. If you place it in a room with too much natural light, it will most likely appear a muted white. But if you pair it with white trim, you can tell the difference.
