Mid Century Modern Atomic Fabric – With a collective background in architecture, graphic design and photography, James and Eva Powell’s creative juices are running high. So when James was designing prototypes for a furniture manufacturer and was frustrated with fabric waste, the question came to mind: Is there a way to recycle scraps and scraps of rolls into beautiful, quality fabrics? By testing the market and opening the ground for establishing partners in the supply chain, by building state-of-the-art factories, the response has been extremely positive.
Only 10% of modern furniture inventory can be viewed online, so a phone call to discuss your furniture needs may be the best choice for your furniture.

We feel good about what we do every day. Our renovated 25,000-square-foot grocery warehouse and our 6,000-square-foot store in Charlotte, NC are filled with materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill, Eva says. Solving this problem has led to helping many different people solve their recovery and rehabilitation challenges.

So what do modern textiles do with their waste? The rest is donated to charities that use the fabric for fundraising projects.
“If your furniture is more than 15 years old, refinish it instead of replacing it,” suggests Eva. Chances are, your piece was made from better quality materials than today. The fabric, foam and backing can be removed and remade into a unique piece. And every time someone appreciates that uniqueness, you’ll have a story to tell. You won’t find anything like it in any store, that’s for sure.”
Timing is everything, so start your kitchen project as soon as possible. The busy patrol season begins in September. And in October, you may continue to plan for the coming year.

Weekly arrivals of premium fabrics fuel James and Eva’s passion for mid-century design. They choose mid-century designs from manufacturers such as Knoll, Muharram and Kudrat, which are increasingly popular with mid-century modern enthusiasts. The large supply allows them to reduce their factories by 50 to 80 percent, making their formula successful.
Not everyone needs the specialized and expensive fabrics available from harsh climate manufacturers. Most modern fabric supplies are full of premium treasures and very durable.
For James, his interest in all things mid-century grew out of flying to exotic locations with his father, a Pan Am airline pilot. Eva has always been drawn to factory artisan qualities, and her passion for mid-century design has become a specialty. Owning their lavishly furnished mid-century home in rural North Carolina gave the two of them time to talk and travel.

What started as scrap on the floor is now a thriving business that allows them to do what they love, even if they never imagined.
Use modern fabric patterns to create a strong pillow. It can be a color, a new texture or something completely unusual for you. The financial commitment of making new pillows is small, so accept the high risk of a print or color you would not normally choose.

You’ve gone for clean lines and a minimalist look, so you’ll want to continue to put effort into your clothing choices. If your preferred colors are minimal, choose textures and solid colors. If you like a more vibrant color palette, move towards bold colors or patterns and shapes that are repeated elsewhere in the room.
You want a fabric that shows off your furniture. A large fabric will enhance a piece by changing its color without significantly changing the print or color. We sourced the fabric from Quadrat, a company that specializes in reissues of classic mid-century modern designs such as Hollingdale. Most dresses are wool or wool, making them a great choice for classic mid-century pieces, Eva says.
There will be times when you just have to ask for help. Along with weekly shipments, Eva has new knowledge to share and samples to send. Most of all, she loves helping others make informed decisions, and she especially enjoys it when customers call to say, “The fabric you sold me is amazing.
