Pilot Better Retractable Fine Point Pen – The thin profile of the pen reminds me of a pencil, including the hexagonal body shape made of smoke-colored reflective plastic that matches the color of the pen.
At one end of the pen we see a very strong stainless steel clip, it brings a lot of cutting power, to many pages without losing the grip.

The pen key is also made of metal and does not change the tension or force required to extend the tip of the pen. When you push the button, it feels really good. Smooth, no scratches, no sticking when you get out from under and the key is enough to go back. This pen was one of the first pens I started my pen-tapping habit with.

The pen holder part starts where the hexagonal body ends and is ribbed for your comfort. To better protect the pen against cracks caused by drops, the conical tip is made of metal. Or when someone accidentally steps on the pen. Finally we come to the top itself. This is a ball tip made of stainless steel.
The pen comes in three colors: black, blue and red. And in two point sizes, fine and medium.
Pilot’s Better Retractable puts a slightly fuzzy black line. These problems usually appear during the headache. It’s very comfortable, you can still feel the ball point moving on the paper you’re writing on, but it doesn’t interfere with writing.

The line width of the pen is good but since Pilot is a Japanese brand, the point size is a bit thin. The ideal line weight is 0.2mm, which is too thin for a ballpoint.
Next, we test whether Better Retractable’s oil-based ink will flow through the paper. Not that it’s good for long idle sessions between texts.
Then we do a waterproof test to make sure the oil-based paint on Better Retractable is still waterproof. There is no color wash and no feathers or details are lost. I also expected some discoloration but nothing like that. This is a very waterproof pen, unlike many oil-based ink pens.

Finally, because I forgot, time to dry off. Oil-based paints usually dry relatively quickly and do not change with those that can be removed within 2 seconds at best. Like I said, relatively quickly.
If you like a thin but durable retractable pen with a nice click that writes smoothly with a nice drydown but is waterproof, the Pilot Better Retractable is the perfect pen for you.
