Pottery Barn Colors Benjamin Moore 2020 – By far the most common question I get is about paint colors. I totally understand. Choosing paint colors for a piece of furniture, a room, or your entire home can be a daunting process. I love to paint – no surprise there, and I have painted and repainted (and repainted) every room in my house. As my taste and style have changed over the years, so has the color palette in my home. I systematically paint rooms in my home using soft and warm neutrals and soothing blues.

The main floor of our home is very open and most spaces are interconnected. I painted the entry, living room, dining room, living room and hallway in Balboa Mist to give the open spaces a sense of flow and cohesion. It is a warm and soft neutral gray color. All the trim and wall coverings in our house were painted a favorite color, but it was very close to Benjamin Moore “Cloudy White,” a soft creamy white that isn’t too yellow.

I recently painted our small powder room with “Cumulus”. Similar to “Balboa Mist”, but a shade or two darker.

The kitchen has very little wall space. Just the bar above the cupboard, above the window and in front of the fridge. I painted it a very soft and warm light gray called Silver Satin.

The master bedroom has six windows, so it gets lots of natural light. I painted it in “Classic Grey”, which is a very nice light grey.

I recently updated my daughter’s bedroom. You can see his tour of the entire room here. He wanted the walls to be painted a calm and soothing blue. We chose the “Glass Sleeper”. It is very blue with gray undertones.

The office is on the first floor, but separated from the rest of the house by French doors, making it a good candidate for a different color. I painted it “Grey Wisp” which is blue/green/grey. I love it with end tables that I painted in General Finishes Tavern Green.

First, undertones will play a big role in how we perceive a paint color. We use undertones to talk about a color in contrast to other colors. So it’s either cooler/warmer or cleaner/mudder in comparison.

Let me tell you an example. Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace BM is warmer than Pure White. In comparison, BM Pure White and Chantilly Lace are cooler than Simply White with yellow undertones. Benjamin Moore Pure White is the most beautiful of these whites and has a gray undertone.
