What works for me is to apply the DIF with a sponge to the paper, wait a few minutes or when it looks like it is dry, use a scraper to scrape the rest of the paper off the wall. You may need to repeat this a few times, especially to get the glue out. After the DIF process, I wash the parts with soap and water.

I love working with DIF. It is not dangerous, the gel sticks to the wall beautifully and safely, non-toxic and odorless.
