Sherwin Williams Sea Salt Exterior – I promised to share my favorite home decor ideas and the first one is one of my favorite topics, paint colors! Specifically, why I love Sherwin Williams Sea Salt and why I think it’s the perfect paint color.
When I went into my house for the first time, everything was black. Walls, gardens, kitchens, ovens, everything. I’m a “bright and shiny” person, so I knew I had to change. Luckily, painting is one of the easiest and most transformative changes you can make to your home.

Most of my house is painted PPG’s Umbria White, but at my husband’s request, I wanted a little pop of color somewhere. I agree! Hence my quest to find the best paint color. I wanted it to be quiet, comfortable and simple.

Here’s a Sea Salt SW 6204 paint strip to give you an idea of the paint color! When you see that my paint bucket above has different stripes than the stripes below, don’t worry, this is the chameleon paint color (I was near a window with a lot of light), changing for a number of reasons. More on that below…
So far I’ve painted the guest room and bathroom in Sherwin Williams Sea Salt and I’m already considering painting other rooms as well. One thing to note is that sea salt changes easily in light. How much light enters the room depends on where the camera is facing, whether it’s natural light or artificial light. More variations means more color variations.
Of course, I highly recommend getting a sample and testing it in your area, but I’m sure you’ll love it!

It reminds me of the beautiful blue and green waters of the ocean. The watercolor mixed with cool gray tones with the warmth of sand and sun is an image that’s not too far from the Sherwin Williams Sea Salt paint color.

This paint color is not only very beautiful, but it is also one of the most popular paint colors in the home. It’s one of those blue-green colors that always makes me stop mid-roll and glance at the camera. Working beautifully with white, gray and blue, Sea Salt brings a welcome splash of soothing color to any space.
Sherwin Williams sea salt is mostly green with blue and brown undertones. Like many other colors, sea salt is a chameleon color, meaning it will look different in every room and lighting, as shown in the different shades.
For example, a green color appears when sea salt is in a warmly lit room. However, in a room with diffused, filtered light, the color may appear green/blue or even blue-blue.
When sea salt is in a bright room, the color may appear faded. This isn’t a bad thing, but it does mean that the color should be very simple and subtle, which is important to know if you’re shooting for a bold, eccentric color.
Sherwin Williams Sea Salt Review
Of course, the color changes when the lights are off or the sun goes down. Is painting fun? Yes!!
For this reason, I always recommend testing a sample in your home before painting the entire room! I like to paint one or two posters with the ideal color, then hang them on different walls in the room at different times of the day to see how the light plays with the color.
Whenever choosing a new paint color, you should test the actual paint color of your home first!
The easiest and fastest way to do this is with Sampleize! I now only use it for paint samples. No mess, no more pots of paint samples left. Plus, these mess-free, peel-and-stick rectangles made from real paint are easy to move around the room and store for future reference!

A word to the wise: Don’t mix Sherwin Williams navy paint color with Benjamin Moore navy paint. They’re so different that if you set your heart on one and have several other boxes at hand, you’ll be disappointed.
Light reflectance value (LRV) is the amount of visible light that a paint color reflects or absorbs. When it comes to LRV, the higher the number, the more light it reflects rather than absorbing. So where does sea salt fall?
On the paint color spectrum, there is a slightly darker shade called Comfort Grey. Then there are the colors Oyster Bay, Acacia Haze, Retreat, Pewter Green and Ripe Olive. Many of these beautiful greens are popular home paint colors!
Sea salt is definitely a cool color with a bit of warmth. As a cool color, it will make the room feel cool, bright and spacious, so it works well in almost any room where you want to relax.

Luckily, this cool and cool color looks really good with warm neutral colors like taupe and beige. I’ve used it twice in a room next to Revere Pewter (Benjamin Moore) and it works great!
If you’re looking for a complementary color to this shade, you have several popular options from Sherwin Williams, including:
It matches beautifully with almost any pure white or off-white trim and ceiling color. I use Simply White (Benjamin Moore) and love them all!

The kitchen is always my favorite place to start. I love sea salt in the kitchen – so much so that I chose it for my old kitchen after a long debate over which color to choose.
Additionally, it is a great example of the different colors the salt sea can give in different light. In my kitchen, the color looks like blue-gray as you can see below.
However, the kitchen where I eat is the sea
