An all-black exterior is one of the hottest trends for your home’s exterior. It may seem counterintuitive, but painting your home in one color (or painting it all black but choosing a slightly darker or lighter color for decor) can bring your home’s structural features to life and draw attention to its architectural features.
There’s a reason we chose white for our country’s most famous home: it looks great. (Also, many buildings during the Classical Revival were painted white due to the mistaken belief that the Greeks and Romans always avoided color.) It may require a little more exterior maintenance, but it’s definitely a stunning look, especially for a farmhouse-style home. .

The soft pastel colors on the outside of the house are just as cute now as they were when I was a kid (if your HOA lets you get away with it).
Another way to approach paint sparingly is to paint just the front door. You often see doors painted red, but really, the sky’s the limit.
If black-on-black is too much, try a more modest (and traditional) gray-on-gray. This take on sound will add a little more interest and dimension to your home’s exterior.

At LRV 26, the swallowtail isn’t one of the dark gray ones, but still has some nice meat on the bones (or tail feathers to be more accurate).
Daringly Dark House Exteriors
Swallowtail has a warm feel and you’ll be amazed to see it shine like a traditional cool gray. It also has very subtle tones which you can read about in the full color review.
To me, a color called ‘Classic French Grey’ should have violet undertones, no? Or am I having a strange mental connection with certain things from my childhood? anyway Sherwin Williams Classic French Gray has a very subtle shade of green (slightly more intense with green-blue in some lights). However, knowing that all grays actually have an undertone, it’s so neutral that I consider it one of the most neutral dark gray paint colors.

Give me some grizzle for the shizzle! Sorry, I’m just channeling the goofy goon in me. Grizzle Gray has an LRV of 13 which means it has some decent meat on the bone but doesn’t look black. And if you ask me, Benjamin Moore Amherst Gray is known for its green undertones, while Grizzly Gray puts it to shame with its more familiar green and slightly cooler approach.
I’m going to throw down the gauntlet with this gray. However, even on the LRV 17, Corridor Gray is not a dark charcoal grey, but it definitely has some depth.

When it comes to conversations, it’s hard to beat Westchester Gray’s inventive approach. That’s not to say it’s completely neutral, but it’s not as stable as the other dark colors on this page.

How To Choose The Right Exterior Paint Colors
While Westchester Gray can appear a bit intense blue, it is a gentle green, fractional and wonderful, and can lean slightly towards other cool tones given the right exposure, interior lighting and atmosphere.
If you choose Peppercorn, you’re in for a wild ride. Not whimsical by any means, just unintentional. It has a peppery green color similar to grizzle gray, which is the ground color of the plumage. However, when the right conditions are met, don’t be surprised to see that autumn green gives way to blue-purple!

I love web gray. LRV 13 is a great way to add impact to a kitchen island, doors or feature walls, but because it’s not too dark, it doesn’t overwhelm the space. But when it comes to conversation, sneaky!
Web Gray undoubtedly supports the color blue. However, it can be blue-violet or blue-green depending on the situation. For example, put a purple like Sherwin Williams Wall Street and you’ll see a pop of green. But then put that crimson gray next to green and it looks blue-violet again. Comparisons are important.
