Zebra Disposable Brush Pens
Brush pens are fun but tricky. I learned a lot listening to Ana on the recent Pen Addict podcast (episode 292). These Zebra Funwari Fude brushes have firm, reinforced tips that he says are perfect for beginners.
The pens have a white plastic body with a snap cap that matches the color (type) of the ink. Covered but not too deep. In general, This is a simple design. The real feature of these is the brush.
The tips are felt, but some are reinforced with plastic so they aren’t as flexible as some. This helps greatly with line control and learning when and how to apply pressure to achieve the desired line width. They don’t bend well at first and tend to break a little after use. They are still firm enough to write with the nib to get a better line. Gentle pressure adds some width to the line; Then use the edges of the tips to add more variation.

All ink colors are water-based, but black is more water-resistant and can be used for sketching and outlining. I got a little feathering where I applied more pressure, but the nibs are great for drawing or calligraphy.

At 22$ they seem a bit expensive to me. The overall feel and use is more of a learner/beginner tool than an artist pen, but prices are higher than some of the better models. Zensations Brush Pen
The Extra Fine Brush is great for those who struggle with thin upper strokes. I think this is the hardest part of learning brush strokes: I’m still figuring out how to match my upper strokes.
Because the tip is so small, Even if you’re a slightly heavier lifter, you’ll still look slim.
However, the Extra Fine nib size is a little on the dry side. As gel pens with 0.3 nibs tend to scratch more and go beyond 0.5 or 0.7, sometimes the ink flow doesn’t keep up with the pen.

I think the Fine Brush is the most juicy of the three. It’s like a Goldilocks mash pen with a brush – the tip is wide enough for smooth ink flow, but still large enough to easily create hairlines.
Before, I wasn’t a fan of medium brushes. Compared to the tasteful Extra Fine tip, the Medium tip looks like a silly platform shoe from the 90s. I keep getting the “bottom heavy” characters that happen when transitioning between downstroke and upstroke.
But I’ve found that with some practice you can get a really good linear version. It is more difficult to achieve than the more stable Extra Fine.

Waterproof: The really cool thing about these pens is that they have waterproof ink. I got past some of the water brush scribbles and the rest was perfectly legible. No stains at all. I was thrilled.

Scraping Tips: These are designed like disposable brushes, so the felt tip wears off quickly :/ You can extend the life of your pen by writing exclusively on buttery smooth Rhodia paper or marker paper, but be careful with your tips over time. It will lose its ability to create flourishing hair.
Zebra, Kuretake, Tombow Brush Pen Showdown
They can’t be refilled: Brushes are unfortunately not refillable. I’ve heard of people removing the pen cap and refilling the pen with black ink, but I’ve never tried it myself.
But that doesn’t mean you have to throw away your dry brushes. You can create some very cool textured effects with a dry brush.
In general, I’m a fan of Zebra Brush Markers and definitely recommend them for any lettering you love! They are strong enough not to easily crush under a heavy hand, yet flexible enough to achieve significant thicknesses and thinness.

Is it worth posting? I often can’t help but think about whether I should write or not. For some reason this always makes me think of the latter because I think it’s better than mine. Zebra Fude Sign Brush Pen, Extra Fine
All I did was remove the back cover, tap the sponge reservoir and use the dropper to drop some permanent ink on the sponge (about 5 drops to really soak it in) and the pen started working again with more permanent ink.
This pen has successfully replaced my Sakura microns set for a fraction of the cost. No need to switch between pens to get line variation; With a simple wave of the hand, you can get a good taper line. This pen looks like it’s wet and I didn’t notice any bleeding.
Unfortunately, My review is not all praise. After using for a while, I did find that the nib wears off a bit, but that’s to be expected with a disposable pen. Not even a pen.
