As a DIY pumping furniture made of wood, it looks like a nasty mess. But for flooring, using a rough board will smooth the wood to the point where it can not absorb stains or sticky substances. That’s right.
When we hired Sander from Home Depot, we would buy 60 and 80 grit paper, but Dave (the same person who introduced Sander) also advised us to buy a variety of grit starting at 20 grit.
And he was right! (I started to like Dave very much). 36 grit is most effective in removing old stains (preferably 20 grits which seems a bit strange). I used 60 and 80 later to finish the ship.
