Today we are reviewing one of my favorite grays: Edgecomb Gray from Benjamin Moore. I will discuss ideas for combining this color and its undertones and give some examples of Edgecomb Gray in different kitchens so you can see for yourself how it looks.
Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray Cabinets
I have to admit; this color is one of my absolute favorite kitchen cabinet colors. It is light, but not too light. Dark, but not too dark. In short, it is the perfect light-medium shade (LRV of 63.88), which makes it a very versatile color.

For example, if you use it in a very bright room with a lot of natural light, it will look much lighter, almost faded. On the other hand, use it in a room with little natural light and it looks darker and warmer.

Most greige seems to fall a little closer to gray or beige. However, Edgecomb Gray somehow manages to strike a perfect balance between the two. It is warm, light, tan and creamy.
The Best Greige Cabinet Color
Although it is a neutral color, even the most neutral grays and beiges will be warm or cool and have at least a slight undertone. Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray is no exception!
This greige is warm and creamy, but without any yellow undertones. In my opinion, cool colors give a slightly harsher vibe, while warm colors give a very comfortable, ‘lid-in’ vibe.
If you look closely, you can see some pink and green shades. Both are very light and only stand out in certain light or around other reds and greens. For example, if you place Edgecomb Gray next to something green, you will see a green tint to it.

But it is worth noting that you do not enter a room and think, “I just paint those cabinets green?”. This color is neutral and the undertones are very light, but THEY ARE.

The only way is to get a paint sample and a piece of cardboard. Paint the sample on the poster board and once it’s dry, hang it on your walls or cabinets.

Due to changes in natural light, the color appears different at different times of the day. If possible, leave the swatch board outside for a few days so you can see how the color looks in different lighting conditions during the day.

This gray paint color is on the warm side of the spectrum. It looks great in rooms with cool light facing north or no light at all. Edgecomb Gray is warm and friendly and can sometimes show a green tint in hot sun.
Edgecomb Gray has an LRV of 63, making it a very light and balanced greige interior. A darker version would be BM Revere Pewter and a lighter version would be BM Classic Grey. The scale ranges from 1 (pure black) to 100 (pure white) and indicates how dark or light the color is.
Use Edgecomb Gray if you have light wood finishes facing north or south and if you have cool white tones and matching stone or quartz worktops. This color is so versatile that it also works well with many granite worktops and floor finishes.
One Step From Classic: Gray Cabinets + Our Favorite Gray Paints — Synonymous
This project was an online color consultation and the transformation was remarkable! We used Benjamin Moore White Dove for the finish, and the ceiling stayed as it was. The client wanted an update without replacing the furniture and decor of her living room.
Here is a “before” photo. Absolutely wonderful! Even the accent pillows are the same. It just goes to show how dramatically you can change a room with paint colors.
I prefer to use this color with a pure or strong off-white such as Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace, BM Oxford White or SW Pure White. White shades with a strong yellow undertone, such as BM Simply White or BM Snowfall White, can also look beautiful with this color.
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter
Blue whites like SW Extra White or BM Decorator’s White are good but not my first choice as they can look harsh. If you want to use these colors, they will work with Edgecomb Gray.
Warmer off-whites and creams like BM Swiss Coffee don’t have enough contrast to bring this color to life.
Edgecomb Gray looks great as a cabinet color, especially if you want something different from the white kitchen cabinet colors that are so popular these days. Make sure to match the color with the countertops. Ideally, the color of the body should be the same as the color of the vein when combined with the quartz.
