After much searching for the perfect rug (yes, I lost my mind too 😂) I ended up with this Stidham District Rug. I instantly fell in love with the vintage-inspired style. One thing that bothers me is the color they show. I’m mostly a neutral girl and wasn’t sure if dark navy and light blue would suit my color scheme.
But the great thing about their website is that they have short videos of each apron. You can see the color and pile height better. I fell in love after watching the video. The colors are soft enough not to be overwhelming.
I can still see the height of the stack well. If you’ve never heard of the term pile, it is the density of carpet fibers. Pile height is measured from the top of the carpet to the back.

This rug is short in height and is ideal for the kitchen. Makes it easy to pull chairs in and out of the table without pulling the rug. Short pile height is great when placing an area rug over a rug.
So I decided to order it and my towel arrived a few days later. Carpets are also better in person than online. One thing you miss while shopping online is touching the carpet. I was surprised at how soft it was.
I love the soft color it adds to my space and it adds a nice contrast to my dark wood floors. We’ve had hard carpet for a long time and it’s nice to see patterns on it. It’s on this channel.
I went with a 7′-10 x 10′-3 carpet in size. One tip for choosing the size of a dining room rug is to make sure all feet of the table and chairs are on the rug and not hanging down.

I recommend choosing a larger rug at least 24″-30″ on either side of your dining room table. Usually 8’x10′ is best.

Lately, I’ve been looking a lot at what we need for our new farm. I knew this place was as old, old as it could be. Unpolished and modern like the last house. I want more colors, layers and textures. It will be a long process to bring the necessary things to every corner of our village. It can be applied to old rugs, pottery, antique lamps, wardrobes, etc. There are mismatched rugs, duvets and chandeliers.
It’s not just a “Run to the Hobby Lobby, get everything in the Farm section and you’re done” kind of thing.
This house is much larger than our previous house and is currently undisturbed. Neutral colors are a blank canvas to start adding things that will make it feel like home.
We bought new rugs for the kitchen from Esale Rugs. It’s not exactly vintage now but has a worn and faded vintage look. We went with a 9′ x 12′ to make it big enough to fit our 8-foot table, chairs, and stools.

There are still many things I would like to include in this kitchen. First, I’m going to take a complementary color, not blue, but I prefer a blue that looks like an orange background. I also want a sideboard for the wall next to the living room. One of our kitchens currently serves as my office. When we remodel the kitchen and remodel the building, the wood cladding comes in. I also think some of the plates between the large rectangular window and the pieces to its right and left would look good. I haven’t decided 100% whether to shoot there or something else.
