I’m sure you guys remember the Uni MitsubishiPure Color F. Since then I’ve seen some great fude pens in different colors and I’m glad my first one was so bad. While I initially found things I didn’t want in a pen, I was able to appreciate some great pens that came out later, like Pentel’s Touch and today’s review, the Pilot Fude Makase Color Brush Pens.
I think you realize that if Jetpens offers a full line of products, I’d go the whole hog and get them all rather than buy one or two and see if you like them. This was true for the Pure Color F, the Pentel Touch (even though I knew I liked the texture of the pen before I played), and it’s also true for the Fude Makase. The Pilot Fude-Makase Color Brush Pens are so cute, I just took a picture of them with the cute box of the cute Pilot Touch Pens. I just love the look of the Pilot Fude-Makase pens – smooth bodies, ink-clear windows and ink-matching caps.
But how does a pen that isn’t just candy feel like a pen? Let’s see and find out!
Jetpens only carries Fude-Makase pens in Extra Fine, a size I don’t use very often, but I knew I would when I ordered it. It is useful to charge extra for small things that do not require technical documentation. My black pen has already come with ink in the display window, which is concerning to me as it is a sign that the pen is nearing the end of the pen or that the air pressure has affected the ink. This happens a lot when I fly and I blame it on the fact that I ship packages across the country rather than Jetpens or Pilot.

Fude-Makase Extra Fine is really extra fine. Just look at that kid! It’s a little soft and can turn quickly if you have a heavy hand like me or if you’re trying to draw juicy lines without the bulky pen of your Extra Fine. Personally, I found this pen to be very fine and hard to pin, but if you’re looking for a light and good fude pen, the Makase is a good choice.
As with Pentel Touch pens, the non-image blue color affects the color of the pen. Pink is very faint without the blue image, but purple with npb. Depending on how you plan to use these markers, this should be kept in mind.
Brush Pen Fude Makase
Fortunately, the non-blue finish doesn’t seem to block these pens as much as it does with the Foray Stylemark pens, but I’m concerned that with light colors, the non-blue finish could damage the nib if not removed. blue image taken from the tip.
Unfortunately, if you stamp Fude-Makase with black waterless ink, it gets a bit messy.
If you want more color but don’t need extra nibs, I recommend the previously reviewed Pentel Touch fude pen. If you are looking for the best tip I think the Fude-Makase is a good choice, I had mine until it exploded on the flight back from TCAF. If you have a large area to fill, or can’t go back to weight, or are looking for a fude pen to rule them all, this is not the pen. It became clear to me that there was no rigid pen I wouldn’t buy, even if the flexibility of the brush didn’t suit my rigid style. When I got JetPen’s Pilot Fude-Makase Extra-Fine Brush Pen back in store (they might be out again as we write this – they sell out fast!) I bought one.
