Hello friend! Thank you so much for the great love that our garden renovations have shown. The response was overwhelming and we loved our new space so much… We were before this rude and disrespectful heat wave would take our place, and the temperature was over 106 in a matter of weeks. It was unbearable, needless to say. that I can’t wait In order to get back to spending more time outside, we’ve really started to feel the heat lately. Before the outdoor space was finished during one of the biggest renovation projects of all, the rooftop stain, luckily I was able to do so before the actual burns arrived. Today I’m going to tell you about the steps in making this project.

The biggest goal I want for our outdoor space is to feel like an addition to our home. I want to blur the line between inside and outside. And I know that deck stains will be a big factor affecting that outcome. as beautiful as natural redwood I didn’t want it to look or feel like a standard hardwood floor. I love the warmth of the colors of the hardwood floors in our homes and hope to replicate it outside as well.

Because we use redwood We had to wait a few months after it was created before we could apply a smudge or protective coating. Allows the wood and oil to dry completely for better stain resistance and good color reproduction. Construction was completed in February. And we let it dry for 5 months before I painted it in July. As with any paint project Good results begin with a clean, well-prepared surface. I started taking everything out of the deck and sweeping. Next I gave it a good scrub. To clean and wash decks, I use SuperDeck Revive Deck and Siding Brightener. This formula is formulated for use with cedar, redwood, or freshly pressed or uncoated wood.
I need help with this part of the project. Because you have to make sure you don’t let the product dry on the wood during use. Naomi and I worked a small part. by wetting the area and using the SuperDeck Revive with a pump sprayer.
Sherwin Williams Super Deck Water Based Stain Reviews: Is It Any Good?
After applying Use a poly-bristled brush to scrub the area. We then left it for about 10 minutes and washed it with a high-pressure hose.
Once we have moved things very easily after cleaning all the decks. We let it dry overnight. the next morning the tree looks fresh animated And come alive again….like new!
When the deck is cleared and ready to be stained So I took another broom and glued the house where the deck meets to protect the exterior paint.
Now it’s time to stain. I chose SuperDeck Semi-Solid Stain Exterior Water-based paint when choosing a deck stain. You need to consider maintenance and coating frequency. The good principle is The darker or opaque the transparency is. The less maintenance it is. Clear coatings and semi-transparent stains require more frequent maintenance and reuse. Since semi-solid or solid stains can last longer before needing to be recycled, the SuperDeck is great because you can use it on wet wood.

The SuperDeck stain comes in a variety of colors and I chose Chestnut SW 3524. I wanted a dark brown and this color was perfect when I sampled the color a few months ago. I’m looking for a smaller place for that again.

This was a project that challenged me to believe in the vision and believe in the process. I started by rolling the stain with a low nappa roller, then lightly brushed it with a 6-inch deck brush to smooth it out. Always use in the direction of the grain.
There is a slight learning curve when working with stains. Because it’s not like any other tip I’ve used before. use it like you paint And just roll/brush the product without stripping the paint after letting it sit on the stick for a few minutes. It took me a while to cope with it. but when i can It ran smoothly. I’m also battling the heat. So I had to act quickly. after the first day I realized that I just love to smudge with a paintbrush. So I pulled out my other brushes (Purdy’s is my FAVE!) and used them for the duration of the project.
Next time I have a crazy idea to take possession of the deck Please save me from myself! I said forever!!! I didn’t know how big the bridge was until I needed to dye it by hand, edge to edge. It was huge and took longer than I expected just because of its size. in the morning and late at night With outside temperatures below 90 degrees, I would recommend doing a roof tinting project in the fall or spring when it’s not too hot or cold…just make sure there’s no rain in the forecast. And don’t even let me start brushing each and every unique board.

Take a few days But I finished the first floor. I want to spend a lot of my time to get good results too. I saw the vision slowly begin to come.
The advantage of SuperDeck’s water-based formula is that it dries quickly and is recoatable. You can apply additional coating after 4 hours and for semi-hard coating. You will need to apply a thin layer of two coats. for best results Depending on the size of your project, this product will help you finish in one day! After finishing the second layer I let it dry overnight before loading everything onto the deck.
After about 48 hours, I tested the water to see how well the stain was able to retain moisture. And it’s good that the water will immediately form and dissipate quickly.
I think a lot of people are surprised when I say I dye the deck because we use redwood in the construction. And usually people leave decks of redwoods in their natural state. It is an excellent quality wood with all types of corrosion and natural/composition resistant properties. Over time, it becomes a warm gray color if left untreated or untreated. Admittedly, it’s pretty good. But I knew I had to smear it before I built it. I am very happy with the results. It looks good and makes the area feel like a resort vacation destination.

If you’re thinking of doing a deck tinting project. I recommend the product Definitely Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck. They also come in an oil formula, which I might try next time I need to dye my bridge. I am an odd person who likes to work with oil products a lot because I love that it gives you a little more control during application. It dries slower than water stains. It’s not a bad idea (which can be a bad thing for a lot of people), but it also gives you a little more space to really spend your time and get it.
