This sophisticated cream color is often off-white or light grey. But because it has these shades of beige and gray, it has some flexibility as it looks very different on walls based on different types of lighting.
As the sun moves across the sky, the light exposure changes. Because of this changing natural light, the appearance of the color also changes during the day.
Shoji White is one of those variable, flexible paint colors (like most grains) that looks completely different in different light exposures.

I recommend not pairing this color with bright red or orange shades as these green undertones can be more pronounced.
Shoji White is a good choice for anyone who prefers soft, off-whites to sharp, bright whites. Its light, creamy nature allows it to play neutral and goes well with many different colors.
Pair white Shoji with darker shades of grey, grey, blue, dark red and green. It also looks great with wood tones and metallic accents.

LRV stands for “Reflectance Value”. Why do I care? A useful and reliable way to determine whether a paint color is light or dark on walls.
LRV is between 0 and 100. A color with 0 LRV is pure black. At the other end of the spectrum, LRV 100 is the brightest white imaginable.
This high LRV puts SW Shoji White in the light range (like off white). Although it can be considered gray, it is light enough to appear off-white most of the time.

White Duck (SW 7010) and Shoji White are VERY similar colors, but NOT THE SAME. Both have a cream gray base and 74 LRV. But that’s where the similarities end.
White Duck is slightly cooler and doesn’t have the subtle green undertone, so if that scares you, use White Duck instead of Shoji White and you’ll get almost the same shade.
Sherwin Williams Alabaster (SW 7008) with an LRV of 82 has the same creamy quality but feels much lighter. Its subtle yellow undertones definitely place it in the soft white category. In fact, alabaster is often cited as one of the favorite white colors by interior design experts.

In contrast, Shoji White is clearly darker and greyer. It has enough saturation to be considered an off-white or light gray.
Sherwin Williams Natural Choice (SW 7011) also has an LRV of 74. When you look at these two shades side by side, it’s hard to tell the difference between them at first.
Look a little closer and you’ll see that Natural Choice is a bit more yellow with a pink undertone that makes it almost peachy.
