Emerald Paint By Sherwin Williams – I’m excited about this announcement because for the first time in years Sherwin Williams has added 200 new beautiful designer polish colors as part of a new exclusive single coat/self priming collection called the Emerald Designer Edition. Colors and Paints is now Sherwin Williams’ premium line of interior paints.
Before I jump into the details, I want you to know that this post is not sponsored in any way. I’m just a painting geek excited to share with you what I learned while researching this new project for my client.
Emerald Paint By Sherwin Williams
The 200 new colors are exclusive to the Emerald Edition designer color and cannot be used with other Sherwin Williams colors. The reason for this is because the Emerald Intensifier line of colors is formulated with a completely different “ultra white base” so if you paint other SW exclusive colors you will not have the same color because the other bases are pure white. In its press release for the new collection, Sherwin Williams noted that the new colors are based on requests from interior designers who rely on whiter whites, more complex grays/beiges and more tonal variations. Because of the wider white base, the SWs seem to achieve better colors.
When I first laid eyes on the fan set, I was pretty blown away because Sherwin Williams pulled it off and clearly capitalized on what the designers were looking for when developing this new collection! Any colored tape is good!
I have already introduced some of these colors to my customers and wanted to share my best colors from the new collection to get you excited.
At the top of my list is the SU9565 iron. I can tell you right now that we’re going to be seeing a lot of this color because it’s that good! Ironically, I tried to get a really rich charcoal color with custom mixing and never got it right. Sherwin Williams came across the dreamy brown/grey/charcoal paint mix I was missing from the project and it was perfect!

By the way, I added other colors above the basket from the Forged Steel color palette. I love all the colors in the rug and often work with one rug to make sure all the colors in the room work together (floor, door, paint, cabinetry, walls, etc.).
Wrought iron is perfect for wall coverings, cupboards and interior doors. I actually use this color throughout the house for all the interior doors for the clients I work with. Isn’t it strange?
Second only to my favorite fake iron is this beautiful tall mud green putter. Oh my gosh, it’s so pretty and that color palette is amazing!
Sherwin Williams made a beautiful use of succulents in this room on the table with a color from a new collection called SW White Sall (I love that subtle white).
Best Bathroom Paint Colors
Another favorite color that I can’t wait to try is Gild Grey, which is the lightest color in the faux steel color palette. I think this color is the perfect color for the entire wall of the house in certain situations.
Guild Gray reminds me of a slightly cooler Repose Grey. I think Gild Gray would be great in a house that doesn’t get a lot of natural light. A splash of color would brighten up the wall.
I am also excited to use Serenity and all the other colors in the Serenity Paint palette. It’s just a stunning muted blue that doesn’t have too much pigmentation.
I also like Whisper, which is a darker wall color below. Also note the white brick color! It’s called White Sesame and it’s a dark very pale warm grey.

As for the quality of the new Sherwin Williams Emerald Intention Edition paint, I have heard really great things about this product from several different paint artists that I work with that I have experience with. While it’s definitely more expensive than traditional emerald paint, the great news is that it’s the first coat of paint, so you won’t have to cover as much surface area, saving you money in the long run by using less paint. I also love that the line is right at the point of concern! So much news that I don’t want to use blasting in my clients’ projects because the difference is only on the wall.

The perfect white paint job is an upgrade! It’s been about 5 years since Sherwin-Williams® introduced a new line. This collection fills some of the gaps that designers are missing. We can see that many of these replace some of our characters. For example, SW 9541 Snow White is as close to true white as SW 7757 High Reflective White, but has a softer and more balanced edge.
The “Rustic and Sophisticated” palette provides the perfect update for the latest country trend. Try Succulent (SW 9650) for charcoal kitchen cabinets for a softer version.
‘Prelude’ (SW 9620) is another one we predict will become a fan. Consider next time you plan Iron Ore (SW 7069).
With its elegant finish, the Emerald series offers the best possible coverage. On the contrary – fewer applications, even with a dramatic color change. You’ll pay more per gallon, but you’ll need fewer gallons.
