After a week or two, I mentioned that we finally got around to painting the outside of our house. From the day we moved in five years ago, I knew I wanted to finally loosen up a little. So, for the past few weeks, I’ve been looking for white paint colors that work well in outdoor settings. We wanted something warm to make sure we weren’t completely blindsided by the new look. Today I’m sharing the best exterior white paint colors!

Although our window trim will be a bronze color (we leave the color there), this post helped me figure out the overall look I wanted. However, at the time, I didn’t really see any impressive photo color. I know that choosing exterior paint is a very different art form than choosing interior paint!

So, I asked my Instagram followers for advice and got a lot of great recommendations! As soon as the color recommendations came out, I immediately googled each color to find an image that represented each option. Then I did some additional research to hear what several professionals had to say. Surprisingly, reliable color photos of exterior paint are very difficult to find. Today I’m sharing all the great ideas with each of you along with some really inspiring pictures of my recommended white exterior paint color! If you want to try a large pre-painted sample, I would definitely check out the sample to choose the perfect exterior white paint color for your home! Signature and larger leather samples are done using real paint (not dyed to mimic colors) to help narrow down the best options.
Benjamin Moore Simple White has always been a favorite of mine for interiors, but I wasn’t sure how it would translate outside. Turns out, it looks great there too! The color of the front door pictured below is Benjamin Moore Azores which fits the modern farmhouse vibe!
Sherwin Williams Extra White 7006 In Real Spaces
Sharon Williams Alabaster is one of the most recommended colors by our Instagram followers. Many of them have been used at home and everyone loves them!
Benjamin Moore White Dove is a favorite for kitchen cabinets, but it also ranks highly for exterior white paint! It has a hint of gray, which makes it a little cooler than other white paint options.

The Best White Paint Colors For Trim
It’s a warm white that looks great on painted brick or with brown accents on the outside of your home.
Bright white painted panels, panels, and panels paired with black window trim and walnut wood accents look great even with fresh snow!
Perhaps the “whitest” of the options, Benjamin Moore Chantilly lace works well with a modern farmhouse vibe!
Sherwin Williams Extra White Review
Sharon Williams Shoji White is probably the hottest and most saturated option. Our friends Jill and Nick have this color on the interior of their house and it looks great. But many people say that she is just as beautiful outside the house!
As mentioned earlier, some of these color images are really hard to find and/or I can only make a ‘best guess’. But there are a few more paint options that make our list of the best exterior white paint colors!
As a reminder, this is what our house looks like now. Because of the two parts of the shaker shingles, I’m wondering if I should whitewash them all, or paint the shingles a little darker. Think soft warm beige. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this too! Our new roof and gutters need to be installed in the next week or two, and I chose to give it a darker shade in preparation for the new paint color. So, the roof will be dark brown/grey and the gutters will match the window trim and be more bronze in color. For now, the stone will stay the same, although I may want to paint it or change it. The 8 Best Front Door Paint Colors
In my opinion, you don’t want to use too bright a white, especially outside of your home. If you do this, your house will be blinded by sunlight.
Going for an off-white or white with some creaminess is the way to go. It will not be an eyesore at all, and will give the house a soft look.
As you can see, we are in the construction stages, and are currently trying to decide on an overall color scheme for the exterior. It’s a tough decision, but one that needs to be made right. Since the majority of the house is whitewashed brick it will all depend on which white we choose!
White House, Black Trim: A Combination We Love
Before you invest your money in a gallon of paint, it’s important to test out a few paint color options first. You can do it the old-fashioned way, which is time-consuming and messy. Or you can use the sampler to order large peel and stick paint samples with accurate color representation.
Despite its name, Sharon Williams Pure White is not pure. It has just a hint of warmth, but not so much that it looks creamy. This will probably be the brightest white paint you will ever use on the exterior of your home.
Oyster White by Sharon Williams is a very warm white. You could almost call it a light gray. If you plan to have wood accents outside, they will complement it.

Like Pure White, don’t let the name fool you. Benjamin Moore Simple White is a warm white. It has a slight yellow undertone, and on a side note, it is Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2016.
Benjamin Moore White Dove is a very soft white with a warm beige undertone. It has just the right amount of “white on white” if you don’t want too much cream on the outside of your house. Dove White is very popular and appears as a paint color.
