I used Promar 400 flat once to paint a large ceiling in an apartment painting project with great results. I had originally planned to use Eminence or CHB, but due to the ongoing lack of paint, Promar 400 was the only flat paint available at my local Sherwin Williams store.
To be honest, I’m not a big fan of the Promar product line which includes the 200, 400 and 700. These colors are mostly intended for rental and lower priority locations. I have used Promar 200 for many walls in the past and this product is the best of the three, but has a better wall color. I used the 700 a long time ago and found the range to be terrible. Do not buy this color.
If your goal is to achieve a flat ceiling and good coverage at a reasonable price, the color Promar 400 will work. On the ceiling I painted, I was able to get thickness in one coat, only needing to touch up the corners a few times. In terms of ease of application, this color doesn’t spread as easily as other colors I’ve used, but it does work well once it dries.
