So far, we’ve painted the counters to look like marble, installed a farmhouse sink, added a tile backsplash, and now it’s time to finish one of the cabinets!

Storing the ink was one of the more difficult tasks on the list, but to be completely honest, although it was time consuming and laborious, it wasn’t too difficult!

I have a lot of cupboards in my kitchen so I split the job into 4 sections which made it more manageable.

And this time, I used Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Enamel to paint my cabinets. And let me tell you, this is the best cabinet paint I have ever used!

How To Get A Smooth Finish With Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel — Hawaii Interior Designer

First, research based on the look you want, the materials you want to use, and what your current cabinets are made of.

Take a minute to measure the hardware holes as well. You want to measure from the center of one hole to the center of the next if you pull now.

This defined what type of primer I needed to use and the hardware measurements helped me decide if I wanted to stay the same size or fill my cavities and find new ones.

This is as simple as it gets! Simply remove all cabinet hardware, remove the cabinet doors from the hinges, and replace the hinges.

Notice where the cabinet door and drawer meet and the hinge is the same! This will make assembly much easier. You also need to note which is on the top hinge and which is on the bottom. That way, you won’t have to adjust as much when restoring.

I wrote tape to the painters to tell me which door belonged where and they kept my labeled hinges in plastic bags that belonged in the closet. After painting or painting my door, I taped it to the canvas where it dried. It helped me keep track of everything!

If you plan to buy a different size of hardware for your doors and frames, this is where you will fill the hardware holes with wood plastic.

I skipped this step with my cabinets. They were unfinished, in good condition and had no paint coats or stains where I left them.

First tested the door with primer and paint to make sure they worked! If you’re thinking of skipping this step, try the door handle first!

No need to remove the tip. You are just giving your child a little bond with this step.

If you filled the hardware holes, sand them down until they are flush with the wood.

When the doors and windows are dry, it’s prime time! I used primer to bond wood and other materials.

I used my foam balls and brush for this step, but you can use a sprayer if you prefer. Just give everything you need to paint a good coat of primer.

For the frame, I just used my paint brush and roller. This color went so well even with the brush and roller. I needed 2 coats total for my boxes.

I brush on the paint and then thin it out with a roller for big strokes. And I achieved my goal when Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Glaze is perfection.

Not to mention… the color (SW Pure White 7005) is my closet white and looks great in our kitchen! Neither is white.

In the most professional way, I painted my doors yellow and used paint cans to spray them thoroughly, and it worked great for me. I started on the back, then laid them out to dry with small sticks to lift them off the floor.

Since it’s winter, I try to keep my dryer in the basement and keep it in the garage away from debris.

After they were all dry, I moved on to the brows. I applied a thicker layer to the forehead and blended it all over in this step to give it a nice finish.

I usually recommend 2 coats for a full set, but I went heavy on the first coat and am so in love with the coverage and finish that I’ll leave it at that for now.

I know I can always add another coat if I feel I need it! Did I mention that I am so impressed with the packaging of this ink? They told me I needed some coats and they were right.

This was also probably the reason I changed my drawers from cream to white! If your cabinets are a different color or darker wood, you will need more than one coat.

Lay them out to dry (so the raised edges don’t touch the floor again). And place them horizontally so the paint doesn’t drip or swell as it dries.

Once you’ve applied 2 coats (or as many coats as you need) and they look the way you want, let them dry completely and move on to the next step.

What Is The Difference Between Satin And Matte?

By the way, I don’t put on top coat because of the longevity of the paint I use! It’s very durable, resists yellowing and dirt, and is perfect for frequently cleaned areas like kitchen cabinets!

Now it’s time to add your hardware! If you’re using the same hardware or even hardware of the same size, it’s simple. Just upload them to the website!

If you’re looking for a different look, grab one of these sample tools to help you determine where your holes should go.

Trust me, they make it easy! Just grab your drill and drill and drill holes for your new hardware. So ok!

What Is The Difference Between Oil, Enamel Paint, And Wall Paint?

For the drawer fronts, you will probably need to attach them before adding the hardware.

Adjust the hinge if necessary. If you’ve kept them organized for each port, this should be minimal.

This is one of those new paints that is said to behave like an oil paint, won’t rust and has just a certain sheen, but just as easy to clean up with water based paint. The general term is alkyd.

Water-based alkyd paint should behave like oil-based paint. According to Golden Boy Poetry, alkyds are the modern successors to oil paint. All the great pain of bearing the alkyd pain now.

I think I use the word glaze to describe the look of the finished product; that’s why it looks hard and glassy. It’s pretty clear. The real Electra is really molten glass, and here they are
