But I have to say that Sherwin Williams Alabaster (SW 7008) has to be my favorite paint color for kitchen cabinets. And it’s easy to see why! This is a good option when you are looking for a nice, clean white that is not too cold and definitely not hot.

For today’s project I will show you how I transformed these aged brass oak cabinets from MEH to WOAH with a fresh coat of SW Alabaster White.

Alabaster has an LRV (light reflectance value) of 82, which means it easily reflects light and makes your kitchen look brighter. Although many ask that alabaster has a yellow color, it actually depends on the light. It doesn’t look yellow to me though, more white, leaning more towards a light beige cream.

Honestly both! That’s why so many people love it. It is a perfect color balance with subtle tones and just the right amount of brightness.
For my clients, I usually pair alabaster with a lighter color scheme. For example, if they have SW Alabaster on the kitchen cabinets, I would paint a trim like SW White Rice (SW 60011), which is an almond white, or even translucent Sherwin Williams Ecru (SW 70022).
I also find that Sherwin Williams Mindful Gray goes well with alabaster and gives it a nice, clean look when used in a kitchen.

Both colors are light and bright, but White Dove LRV 85.38 makes it brighter than Alabaster. It also has a more noticeable gray tone and is a bit cooler than Alabaster.

Wondering what color to use with alabaster? Of course, here are some beautiful coordinating colors that pair well with this warm white.
I think this shade works well in two different ways. Black can be the base color to make the accent colors stand out. Alternatively (and probably my favorite way to use it) let the alabaster have a light accent color – a bright pop against the dark base color.
Tip: If you are using it as a cabinet color, I recommend using it as a trim color so that two light whites do not clash.
