We are very happy with our gray painted rooms as they are light but also add depth or thickness with the color. But some people say blue is too purple or too blue for them. I think because I have a tendency towards cool colors, we are happy and have used this color in many places.
What we find interesting about looking at the hex paint codes is that you can see the surrounding colors. You can see that the surrounding colors lean towards purple on the left, but the color below is warm. It’s an interesting combination where hot meets cold. Which in our opinion would make it a very modern and different color.
Any gray paint will be warm or cool depending on the color combination. All paints will look different depending on the undertones and lighting. It is always important to test your paint with your light. Your attitude or the way you perceive color will also play into the undertones you see.

We think gray has a hint of purple, but we like bright colors, and maybe that’s why we’re attracted to this color. Be sure to test this color thoroughly by using swatches, painting large boards, or painting samples on the wall to see how it will look in your space.

However, we think this color is neutral and light enough to go with any color scheme you want to incorporate. In our master bathroom you can see natural slate combined with gray walls. Also dark mirror and dark jelly colored cabinets.
We have Behr Charcoal Blue and gray cabinets in our upstairs bathroom. Cool colored bathrooms play well with the wall color. In addition, we paint reclaimed wood with industrial pipe shelves, and the contrast of warm tones also works well.
We think gray looks best in our small bathroom with cool painted cabinets and wooden shelves. In our basement it also works well because of the large space and the need for neutral light for the walls.

In a larger tub, I probably would have chosen a warmer gray like Agreeable Grey, but if you have a can of paint, you can make the most of it. We also wanted a different gray in the bathroom than our bedroom (which is techno grey). The light gray works, but I’m sure we could have something brown to complement the slate tile.
