Sherwin Williams Deck Stain Color Chart – Deck and fence restoration systems use Sherwin Williams’ SuperDeck waterproof towel sheet to provide durable, opaque protection. The signature colors include infrared reflective technology that reflects harmful UV rays back into the atmosphere. This helps reduce the surface temperature of the deck so they are cooler under your bare feet than standard dark cans. The year-specific colors are Deck and Dock stains, which provide greater water repellency and protection for damaged wood.

Note: Actual colors may vary. This is because each computer monitor’s ability to display colors is different, and everyone sees colors differently. Hello my friends! Thank you all for the immense love in transforming our garden. The response has been amazing and we’ve really been enjoying our new space…well, we were before this wicked and super respectable heat wave hit our area and the temps have been over a whopping 106 for weeks now. Needless to say, I can’t wait until it will pass so we can go back and spend more time outside. As hot as it has been lately, we actually started feeling the heat even before the outdoor space was finished during one of the biggest projects of the entire remodel, painting the deck. Luckily I got there before the real burners got here. Today I’m going to share the process of how I brought this project to life.

The biggest goal I wanted for our outdoor space was to make it feel like an extension of the inside of our home. I really wanted to hit the lines between interior and exterior and knew that painting the deck would be a big factor in achieving that end result. As beautiful as natural mahogany is, I didn’t want it to look like a plain wood deck. I love the warmth of our hardwood floor color in our house and was hoping to replicate that outside.

Because we used mahogany, we had to wait several months after construction to apply a stain or protective coating. This allows the wood and oil to dry thoroughly to better accept the stain and provide a great color result. The installation was completed in February and we let it dry for 5 months before painting in July. If you’re working with wood like pine or Douglas fir, you may not have to wait as long (if at all) to paint. After I came up with a game plan for how to tackle this project, I ordered an outside contractor for stains and materials from Sherwin-Williams.

I used a brush set, roller, metal pan, spray pump and Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck cleaner and stain to complete the project.

As with any painting project, a perfect result starts with a clean and thoroughly prepared surface. I started cleaning everything off the deck and wiped it down. Then I gave it a good coat. I used SuperDeck Revive Deck and Siding Brightener to clean and wash the decking. This formulation is specifically designed for use on new or untreated cedar, mahogany or pressure treated wood.

I helped you with this part of the project because you need to make sure you don’t let the product dry on the wood when you apply it. Naomi and I worked in small sections, wetting the area and applying SuperDeck Revive with a sprayer.

After application, he used a multi-bristled brush to clean the area. Then let it sit for about 10 minutes and rinse with a high-pressure hose.

Once it got going, it went pretty fast. After cleaning, let the entire blanket dry overnight. The next morning the tree looked fresh, new and alive…like new again!

Once the deck was washed and ready to paint, I did one more brush pass and taped it to the side of the house where the deck meets it to protect the exterior paint.

Now it’s time to paint. I chose SuperDeck Exterior Waterborne Formula Semi-Solid Color Stain. When choosing a stain, you should consider maintenance and how often you need to recoat it. A good rule of thumb is that the darker or more opaque the transparency, the less maintenance required. Clear varnishes and translucent stains require more frequent maintenance and reapplication, as semi-solid or solid stains may last longer before being reapplied. SuperDeck is great because you can apply it to wet wood.

Staining The Deck

SuperDeck stain is available in many colors and I chose Chestnut SW 3524. I wanted a deep rich brown color and when I tested the color swatches a few months ago, this color was perfect. I painted a small area one more time just to be

Now listen up friends… your daughter is afraid to make her first brush stroke. Like super scared. We put a lot of time into building the deck and the last thing I wanted to do was destroy it. It was a project that challenged me to believe in my vision and trust the process. I started by rolling the stain with a short round roller, then gently went over it with a 6 inch brush to smooth it out. Always apply in the direction of the blade.

We took a bit of a learning curve working with the stain because it was unlike any other stain I had used before. You apply it like paint and after a few minutes of standing on the wood, you use a roller/brush on the product without removing the paint. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but once I did it was smooth sailing. I was also working against the heat, so I had to move quickly. After the first day, I realized that I preferred applying the stain with a brush, so I pulled out some of my other work brushes (Purdy’s are my FAVORITE!) and used them throughout the project.

Save me from myself the next time I want to get the quilt dirty again! When I said it took FOREVER!!! I had no idea how big the quilt was until I had to dye it. Manually. Board of Directors. It is huge and lasted longer than I expected for the size. I was also able to work early mornings and evenings for short periods when it was below 90 degrees outside. I would recommend starting a quilt painting project in the fall or spring when the weather isn’t too hot or too cold…just make sure it’s not raining. And don’t even get me started digging through them. one board.

It took a few days, but I finally finished the first layer. I really wanted to take the time to achieve even a nice result. I slowly saw the vision begin to come together.

The good thing about SuperDeck’s water-based stain is that it allows for quick drying and recoating. You can apply additional coats after as little as 4 hours, and with a semi-solid surface you’ll want to apply two
